March 2024 Paul A. Rahe

It was an honor and a privilege to welcome Paul A. Rahe; Professor of History at Hillsdale College, to the Contemporary Club.

He has received many honors and awards that include Rhodes Scholar at Oxford University, 1971; Woodrow Wilson Fellow, 1971; Field Scholar, American School of Classical Studies at Athens, 1973; Junior Fellow, Center for Hellenic Studies, Washington, DC, 1980-81; Fellow at the National Humanities Center, 1984.

Professor Rahe's entire scholarly career has been focused on two subjects: the origins and evolution of self government within the West, and the interplay among politics, diplomacy, and war……... His range is considerable.
